Reflections on Life

Posted on February 25th, 2013 in Uncategorized | No Comments »

Life – what is life! Life can be described in many ways and has many facets and interpretations. It presents us with an ongoing stream of experiences of situations, events and interactions of all kinds with other people and our environment.

It is creation in its magnificent splendour - the original bringing into existence of the universe by God.

For humans it is a journey encompassing all the seasons, colour and streams of life’s experiences.

The miracle of new life in any form of creation brings wonder and amazement as we become aware of the intrinsic formation of such an unexplainable divine plan.

For humans there are many rituals and traditions that help celebrate the different seasons and significant moments in life.

A welcoming of a new child might entail a ritual of a Christening or Blessing in the Christian tradition or perhaps a Naming Ceremony for those less religious. In other cultures and belief systems children are welcomed in a variety of ways but none-the-less mostly it is found to be a joyful celebration of the miracle of new birth.

Life can sometimes be brief - the miracle taken back from where it began just as life is beginning – the mystery of why these sad experiences happen not to be explained.

Life changes for humans as the body grows and life is experienced in new ways. Learning takes place as the brain develops and intelligence is gained and used for the betterment of human kind.

At times the human body suffers from physical limitations this being a challenge as strength of spirit and courage come to the fore.

During the seasons of life ritual is shown to be important such as times of celebration when a person reaches the age of eighteen – a time of maturity and starting out as an adult on life’s journey.

Permanency of relationships can be celebrated by the ritual of Marriage as people start a new chapter along the journey called life.

The miracle of new life can emerge again in this relationship of Marriage as a new life is created and welcomed to the world.

As the continuing seasons and cycles of life are observed, life can represent colour as of a rainbow in these seasons of new beginnings, celebrations, changes and endings.

Red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet – colours of the rainbow – how symbolic of life’s journey as the rainbow is composed of the entire spectrum of colour from the shortest wavelength violet to the longest wavelength red.

A closing ritual now takes place as the body has accomplished its purpose and the ending of life as humans know it is honoured and the life celebrated as the spirit travels back to the Divine from whence it came.

Anger management courses help save marriages

Posted on February 18th, 2013 in Uncategorized | No Comments »

“I thought I was in a pretty good marriage with occasional arguments until my wife said to me “If the next year of our marriage is as bad as the last year, I’m outta here”.

She felt as if she was always walking on eggshells so as not to set me off. Any time she disagreed with me, I immediately went on the attack and tried to defeat her point of view by almost any means. So when she told me she had taken all she could stand, I took her seriously and decided that I had to do some frank soul searching to find out why I kept losing my temper, so I could not lose the person who meant the most to me in the world”.

As I looked back many of my habitual ways of dealing with the world were driven by anger. I was an aggressive driver, using my horn and my “freeway finger” whenever people weren’t travelling the way I thought they should be. If the mechanic told me something needed fixing on my car, I was sure he was exaggerating for his own financial gain. I thought I had an unusual ability to see through a hypocrite, and since I thought that most people were, I got a lot of practice of seeing through them.”

This is one story of a man who came to me for help in dealing with his anger problem.

As a Psychologist, I’ve seen many of my clients lose their jobs, wives and opportunities because they were simply not able to handle the normal frustrations and disappointments in life.
They argue, they insult and they sulk.

They come to see themselves as ineffective, unlucky, of just plain losers. They don’t admit this to anyone, but deep inside they don’t like themselves. Their anger gets in the way of their ability to be good bosses, good workers and good family men.

For many men who have been charged with serious crimes, such as assault and murder, it is clear that these are not pre-meditated. These men didn’t start out with the intention of hurting others.

They reacted impulsively, and often out of anger. Someone insulted them and they struck back. Situations they could have walked away from became major confrontations because they did not know how to handle themselves other than aggressively. They know their behaviour is stupid and they don’t know why they did what they did.

Domestic violence programs are over run. Our prisons are overcrowded and even our schools are not altogether safe. But men who are angry do have a choice. No-one can change the whole world, but there are many things you can change about the way you see yourself, others and the world, and come to understand what triggers your anger along with learning what other actions you can take to keep yourself and others safe. Your marriage, your job and your happiness depend on it.

Pornography Addiction - a growing phenomenon.

Posted on February 15th, 2013 in Uncategorized | No Comments »

Over the last few years I have noticed a huge increase in the number of clients coming to see me for pornography addiction. With the easy access of porn on line, and on tablets and phones, many men are having trouble resisting the urge to view porn more and more often, and it can be scary how quickly this can turn to an addiction.

Some of the key elements in the development of a porn addiction are starting to watch porn at a young age, controlling or uninvolved parents, loneliness and isolation, seeing a model of unhealthy relationships and early sexual abuse.

Once you have realized that you are addicted, your path to freedom starts with the realization that you’ve lost control around sex. You begin to acknowledge that you’re acting regressively and that you are probably a mature man in many ways, but you don’t understand intimacy and have confused intimacy with sexual activity.

Another thing that can be a he realisation is that you can’t get enough of what won’t satisfy you. Objectifying and sexualizing people is an never ending, negative process that yields a few minutes of excitement, a brief orgasm, then hours, days, weeks, months and years of fear, pain, shame, self doubt, self criticism, judgement and anger.

Doing this work will free you from the shackles of your negative sexual story.

Many men who have done so look back and see this as their rite of passage into true manhood, free of old compulsive sexuality. You can then take the energy you are expending on addictive behavior and channel it into a more satisfying career, intimacy and better relationships with a partner and with your family and friends. You’ll really get a life in the full sense.

Counselling for Porn addiction with qualified and experience Psychologists is available in 60 locations Australia wide at the Hart Centre. Call 1300 830 552 to find out more.

It is important to store your makeup properly so it does not expire and become unusable. The primary reason that makeup goes past its use by date is that we cannot find it when we need it. Storing your makeup in a makeup organizer will mean that you will be able to locate the makeup when you need it saving you time and money.

Makeup is very expensive and if not used in time will expire and become unusable. The most common reason that makeup is not used is that you cannot find your makeup item when you need it so you simply forget about it. Organising your makeup so you can find it easily and when you need it will save you time and money. Here are some factors to consider when organising your makeup.

Makeup Organizer
The makeup organizer must be functional and nice to look at Makeup organizers made from clear acrylic will be the best units as you will be able to see your make items through the clear material. Another important consideration in the functionality of a makeup organizer is its drawer size. It is important that the organizer has a different drawer sizes so that even your oversized makeup items can be stored. Larger drawers sizes also mean that your makeup items can be stored upright ensuring that they do no leak or spill.

Some makeup organizers will have flip top compartments at the top of the units. This enables you to get your makeup items easily rather than using the drawers and is best suited for your makeup items that you use most frequently.

The size of your makeup collection will determine the number of drawers that you require for your makeup organizer. It is always a good idea to get the makeup organizer that is a little larger for your makeup collection as you will grow into the unit quickly.

Cost
Cost is a crucial factor in deciding which makeup organizer to purchase. There are a number of factors to consider when costing a makeup organizer. Generally the larger the unit the more expensive it will be. However, if you consider the cost of you makeup expiring before you get the chance to use it, the cost of a makeup organizer will pay for itself many times over.

Working Files and Graphic Design

Posted on February 9th, 2013 in Uncategorized | No Comments »

Graphic design professionals design various graphic works for logos, brands, publications, product packaging and advertisements. The graphic works are done with the help of graphic file formats such as EPS, PNG, GIF and JPG. All the above graphic file formats are known as the bitmap graphics which consist of thousands of small colored squares or pixels in the form of a checkerboard grid. Bitmap files are output by digital cameras and cell phones, and these files can be created, resized, optimized and edited easily to use in web programs. Most of the web browsers use JPG and GIF file formats as they compresses the size of the file for the efficient delivery of files through the internet.

GIF file formats are used for the creation of web graphics. GIF files support only 256 colors, and can be used in almost all the computer platforms. EPS file formats are used to create images with duotone/monotones and clipping paths. JPG file format is used for web graphics with great amount of gradations and colors. PNG is a file format created to overcome the limitations of GIF. PNG file formats provide lossless compression without any copyright limitations.

Working file formats are of two types- original as well as derivative files. Original files are the JPEG files or raw (unrendered) files that are created by the camera, whereas derivative files are created out of the original files. The rendered as well as unrendered formats are used as the working file formats. Raw files are used with PIE software and the rendered files are used both in pixel editing software and PIE. The JPEG file cannot be used as the working file because of the lossy compression. Working files cannot display graphics properly as they are mainly used for printing the documents. Working files cannot display quality images as required by the web based programs.

Working files are normally used for storing and viewing documents, notes etc. The different working file formats are .DAT, .DCF, .DCT, .DO, .DOC, .DTA, .FRQ, .FRW, .MAP, .SAS, .SD2, .SPS and .WRN. The working files can be included in a .ZIP file which contains a data file, different definitions of the date and other such documentation. The file types will differ according to the file format and the data type included. You can extract the working files from the .ZIP file. With the help of Winzip or PKUNZIP, you can extract the working files. Working files are primarily used for documentation, but design studios are creating graphics for various needs. It is not possible to create graphics using the working files. Hence, professional designers do not release working files.

The Challenges of Anger Management

Posted on January 8th, 2013 in Uncategorized | No Comments »

Anger is the natural emotion humans experience in responding to a perceived threat, frustration, assault or obstruction to our humanity and who we are.
For men, anger is their most common and immediate reaction to the experience of physical or emotional pain and fear.

Often anger will show up most in a man’s relationship with his partner, and this can develop into violence toward her.

For a partner over time she becomes sick of living with fear, intimidation and humiliation, and usually in time, finds the strength to give him an ultimatum “You get fixed or I’ll get out”.

There needs to be a distinction between anger and violence. Anger is an emotion. Violence is what some people might do when they are angry, or even when they are not. Violence can be physical, emotional or spiritual.

For many men their softer emotions of fear and sadness have been covered or not expressed. They have been taught “Be a man. Be strong. Take control of your life – even if you fail. But don’t show your true feelings – especially your pain and fear”. They only have access to their anger. Anger can cover so much of a man’s personal pain.

The good news is that you can solve your anger problem. Not by berating yourself as sick or sinful, but by recognizing yourself as a human being with an emotional life experience as well as a rational one.

The challenge is not really to work against your anger, but to become aware of where it comes from. To take control of your anger and direct what you do with it.

Anger is not about control. It is about loss of control. For most men losing control is painful and fearful. You can feel vulnerable and feel like you’ve failed. Sometime men fear the consequences of losing control more than just about anything else. The pain of failure and the fear of losing control drives much of men’s anger.

The Hart Centre Australia has around 50 Psychologists in centres around Australia ready to help you manage your anger in individual anger management sessions. Contact the Hart Centre Phone 1300830552 for more details anger management and anger counselling.

If you want more than just pictures from your wedding day, wedding videography is something you might want to think about. When you engage a professional wedding videography melbourne firm they are going to record the wedding ceremony, reception, entrance, and all other significant moments of the special day. Depending on the package you want to choose, each couple is going to go with something a little different. You can get great still shots and photos, but a video is truly going to help you commemorate and remember your big day together.

Packages
Depending on whether you simply want the actual wedding or whether you want to commemorate the entire day, there are different packages a couple can choose from. Some options to consider include:

  • ceremony only packages (where you can get the entire service, the procession, and guests seated, and you should get multiple copies);
  • all inclusive multi shot options (based on the number of hours you want recorded).

When you choose all inclusive packages, you can select from a variety of video options, and video recordings that cover anywhere from 5 hours up to 10 hours of coverage, depending on the company you engage, and how long the reception goes for. You will get coverage from multiple cameras, from different angles, and for all guests who do attend the festivities. So, depending on the amount of coverage you want, what your budget is, and how many cameras and angles you want filmed, there are a number of package options to choose from when the time comes to pick the best packages for your wedding day.

Companies to hire
When you decide to do wedding videography, as opposed to simple still shots, you have to choose the right company to do the recording. When you are deciding on a company you should:

  • read reviews and learn as much as possible about the individuals and crew who will be recording the wedding events;
  • gather information about what they will cover, and what is included in the package rates;
  • choose those companies that are well known in the area and do several weddings;
  • consider the companies offering multiple package options and affordable prices; and,
  • choose the companies that offer you multiple options for payments, for the type of recording, the quality, and the video coverage you are going to get.

Clients also have to find companies that are licensed, and have the proper qualifications to do the work for them on their wedding day. As there are so many companies to choose from, it is important to compare them, their work, reviews, and all the information you have, before choosing a company, that you are going to hire for your wedding day.

The wedding videography packages are going to allow couples to remember their wedding for years to come. These recordings will capture moments, how the guests are feeling, and the mood of the day.
